Community Acupuncture

Community Acupuncture is the heart of what we do.  Treatments are $35-$60 sliding scale/$30 hardship rate. Patients wear loose comfortable clothes and rest in recliner chairs or on massage tables.  We individualize each acupuncture treament to the patient.  Patients typically rest with needles in for 40-60 minutes.

We acknowledge the debt we owe, as community acupuncturists, to the Young Lords and the Black Panthers, two groups challenging racism and oppression in the 1970’s who fought to bring affordable group acupuncture into their communities to address the scourge of addiction.

Black Panther party leader Huey Newton returned late to San Francisco from a visit to China where he said he petitioned Chairman Mao Tse-tung to be chief negotiator to President Nixon, “For the peace and freedom of the oppressed people of the world.” Newton (L), said that he did not actually meet with Mao Tse-tung, but presented his petition to Chinese Premier Chou En-lai.
